Jim Greatorex – The newest addition to the VGM Retail Team!

We are thrilled to announce the addition of a new member to our VGM Retail Team – HME veteran and retail expert Jim Greatorex, formerly of Maine’s Black Bear Medical.

 For those who are unfamiliar with Jim, he started Black Bear Medical in 1988. Over the years, it grew to three stores and 37 employees in Maine and New Hampshire until he sold the company earlier this year. He is a past president of NEMED, and has actively lobbied for the HME industry in Washington, D.C. He has more than 20 years of HME retail experience, regularly speaks at trade shows and conferences and writes for industry publications on all types of retail topics.

In his new role with VGM Retail, Jim’s focus will be on finding new products to enhance retail sales in HME retail operations, and working with VGM Members to build or improve their retail business.

“Retail in the HME space is not solely about selling traditional HME products for cash. Jim understands, after years of putting this into practice, that success comes from a unique product mix that appeals to the consumer. VGM is extremely excited to have an industry expert like Jim join our VGM Retail team. We are continually looking for ways to help our membership,” said Paul DiMarco, vice president of VGM Marketing.

“I am excited to be joining the great team we have in VGM Retail Services. I look forward to helping our members take advantage of the fantastic retail opportunity our industry offers. I can’t wait to bring the provider prospective to our division and promote programs and products that will help providers build profitable, sustainable retail programs,” said Jim.

“I also want to show providers that retail can be fun! Throughout my career, I’ve experienced both sides of the fence – the documentation and rate haggling side as well as the targeted marketing and sales side. I found myself to be in a much better mood every day that I was working on improving the retail side of my business, rather than fighting the red tape. I hope I can share that same motivation with our members.”
